The Person Of The Year

If I had the chance to suggest someone as a candidate for the person of the year, my candidate would be one of the bravest heroins of the Turkish Independence War. There are many heroin stories but one of them is really pathetic and worth appreciating. The courageous woman Ayşe Hatun who is brave enough to see her baby dead  for the sake of her homeland. Story of her is a sorrowful one. Those times there were no place not occupied. There, of course, was a huge scarcity of ammuniation. To make this situation as possible as better, each citizen was trying to do whatever they could. So was Ayşe Hatun. She carries ammuniation to the battlefront with her eight month babygirl on her shoulder. Suddenly the baby starts to cry. Here is the feats of bravery that not many mother could do. She embraces the baby on her chest. She even does this without thinking once. Since going away of the enemies takes long, the baby is already dead when enemies are all gone. And Ayşe Hatun, herself, makes her own baby martyr. Upon this really grievous event, she just puts a flag on her baby and utter these words : 'You died for your homeland,  for the children that will be born hundreds, thousands years later. ' ' This is an honour for both you and me. ' And then puts her baby there and gets back on the road to the battlefront. There are  not many people who have this kind of intense love for their homeland. So my candidate would be this great heroin just because of her having heart of gold.
